January has been a blur of stagnation. I’ve been doubting my entire craft—stuck on what to make, where to begin, and why. Completely fed up with myself, I cleared a space amid the chaos of my workbench, and out of nowhere, I wove a Brigid’s Cross from wax wire. As the wax warmed, my heart softened, and the spark returned. This simple act of making it restored my creative courage—perhaps a gift from Brigid herself.

For those of us who craft, and write, and create, January’s infamous slump could easily be framed as a complete write-off. But the arrival of Imbolc reminds us that the dormancy of winter hasn’t all been for nothing. A goddess of fire, change, poetry, inspiration, wisdom, healing, creativity, prophecy, and (fittingly for me) metalworking—Brigid, like Imbolc, is all about transformation and new beginnings.

Her lesson is to live boldly. And just begin. However small, however dull those embers may seem, just begin. Brigid’s fire will follow.

Brigid's Cross in Silver
from €80.00

An ancient Irish symbol of protection, the St. Brigid's Cross is traditionally woven from rushes and displayed over the door of a house to ward off evil. A goddess of fire, change, poetry, inspiration, wisdom, healing, creativity, prophecy, and metalworking — Brigid, and the pagan festival of Imbolc, is all about transformation and new beginnings.

Process: Each pendant has been individually hand modelled from wax, so each one slightly different, and perfectly unique. Imprinted with stones collected on my many beach walks, they have a beautiful stoney texture on both sides. You can read all about the lost wax casting technique I use here.

Material: The Brigid's Cross pendant has been cast in 935 silver — a high-purity silver that offers durability, and a soft brightness that grows more beautiful with time.

Size: This pendant measures approx. H2.8 cm x W2.5 cm

Options: When purchased with a chain, your pendant will come attached to 45 cm sterling silver chain with a spring ring clasp.
