Síle na Gig – an image of distilled femininity has survived everything. She lives in our collective consciousness. With her flat, drooping breasts and fierce, menacing expression, she sure isn’t pretty — but she demands to be looked at. Both blessing and warning, she embodies the delicate balance of strength and vulnerability.
I think that’s why I felt so compelled to honour her in the form of a pendant. To keep her in our consciousness as a reminder of our true strength — our raw, primordial force, and the apotropaic power we’ve always carried.


Process: This little Sheela was lovingly hand-carved in wax, and imprinted with the textured stones collected on my many beach walks. It has a beautiful stoney texture on both sides and has an oxidised finish to emphasise all the tiny details. You can read all about the ancient technique of Lost Wax Casting here.

Material: The Síle pendant has been cast in 935 silver — a high-purity silver that offers durability, and a soft brightness that grows more beautiful with time.

Size: This pendant measures approx. 2.2 cm (H) x 1.6 cm (W)

Options: When purchased with a chain, your pendant will come attached to 45 cm sterling silver chain with a spring ring clasp.
