Twice a year, at the equinox, the morning sun threads a narrow passage in the cairn at Loughcrew and bathes the equinox stone in golden light. It has done so without fail for more than 5,000 years. The carved Sunwheel glows for just a few moments — a quiet meeting of sun and stone, sky and earth.

It was Martin Brennan and Jack Roberts who named it the Sunwheel, after rediscovering the alignment in 1980, convinced of its connection to seasonal shifts and the sun’s positioning. It whispers of an ancient wisdom written in light and shadow.

This pendant holds a piece of that ancient rhythm — a subtle nod to the light that always returns, and the slow, steady cycles that have shaped us across millennia.

Process: This pendant was lovingly hand-carved in wax, and imprinted with the textured stones collected on my many beach walks. It has a beautiful stoney texture on both sides and has an oxidised finish to emphasise all the tiny details. You can read all about the ancient technique of Lost Wax Casting here.

Material: Both Sun Wheel pendant have been cast in 935 silver — a high-purity silver that offers durability, and a soft brightness that grows more beautiful with time.

Size: Large Sun Wheel measures approx. 2 cm (H) x 1.5 cm (W)
Small Sun Wheel measures approx. 1.5 cm (H) x 1.2 cm (W)

Options: When purchased with a chain, your pendant will come attached to 45 cm sterling silver chain with a spring ring clasp.
